Why did I quit my job after 3 years?

So I quit my good-paying work life as a Data Engineer in the month of January 2023.

Not to give too much suspense, I moved to The United States of America in January 2023 after 10 days of leaving my job.

I want to focus on a few specific things in this article: why, why not, when & what next?

To give a brief about myself, I finished my undergrad in 2019 in India and was working as a Data Engineer for over 3 years. I have worked with two companies in the last 3 years over multiple technologies. For more professional details, connect here — https://www.linkedin.com/in/harshita-singh-82bb86147/

WHY DIDN’T I CONSIDER THE OPTION SOONER?

  1. Honestly, I was not too fascinated by the American dream.
  2. I was satisfied with my job back home so never thought to quit it for something else 😅 (touchwood*)
  3. I was not ready to leave behind my family 🥲
  4. And I love India 🇮🇳 at the end of the day. Trust me, when I say the following — we have a huge number of services available back home for a lot of things which is not so common here in everyday life.

WHEN DID I DECIDE TO MOVE?

  1. I started considering the option in February 2022. Here, I am in 2023 writing this article from the USA :) So let me tell you honestly, you never know what the future holds.

SO, WHY NOW? (brief list)

  1. For my master’s in Computer Science. I wanted to do it in Data Science, but that is for another article 😛
  2. For global exposure🌍
  3. Lifetime opportunity - missing which will not be something I would be grateful for, later in my life.
  4. A chance in life to do something new for me.
  5. My family wanted me to do this. So I want to fulfil their dreams 👩🏻‍🏫

WHAT NEXT?

  1. For now, I am trying to adapt here, since it’s just my first month in the country 🥶
  2. I met a huge number of people from a lot of countries which was a good experience to say 😎
  3. I still have mixed feelings about leaving my job back home. But I am trying 😅
  4. Will be writing in detail about all my experiences which will be worth sharing.

But now, I am here in this new country experiencing many new things every day & being completely independent which is a little problematic for me specifically since we have moms back home for everything we need 😂 but jokes aside, I hope to make it worth my experience.

Keep Reading & will be writing soon about my journey.
